This is purely cosmetic and a little bit practical but all those box edges and corners on the casing makes me worry given the punishment wheels take and what they inflict on themselves! And similarly the sharp edges of the metal parts in a fall or a quick grab or pick up.
I agree somewhat with Kirsty, the new wheels do seem to have more on the outside than the inside. Every part seems exposed and looks likely to cause or get damaged.
in german I would say "mehr als flüssig - überflüssig". Maybe this works in english too: more than fluous ... superfluous. Moreover I agree with Kirsty Gwilliam and like to add as maijor flaw in my opinion its height and weight (47 kg).
The Master (37 kg) will turn out as the better EX20S ... with even slightly rounder edges, more performance and - although similar - better looks. :-)
Still loving my nowadays "tiny" yet very powerful RS (27 kg) and would never trade it for a suspension wheel. Not to forget its loud buzzer being hearable at any speed with any helmet.
Old Trapper It does feel like the wheels are just getting bigger and bigger and we are missing this mid range machines. I look at the V12, great wheel but its still a big wheel if I way compare that to other 16inch wheels. The RS is a great power to size ratio and we can only hope that they can also do something in the mid range some or other time. But for me too its not shouting to take my money.
Not sure if anyone else has seen this (i found it this morning), but Chooch Tech explored this wheel and its stats etc a bit on his YouTube channel about 4 months ago. It’s definitely worth watching. For me, just the weight not to mention the price is a real turn off. I simply couldnt cope with anything heavier than my s18.
Andre Mostert -agreed the Master is better looking and yes, it would be crazy to learn on this, it would take a lot of experience to keep all those edges scratch free! All I see is Ouch! It’s written big all over this new wheel. I don’t have any experience of other wheels aside from my own, and given it’s a pretty up to date model I’m a little disappointed in the manufacturing quality. The actual finish on the plastic parts and metal is down right rough and sharp in places- I especially hate the softness of the metal used on the footplates and razor edges in other underside spots. Having said that the orange supports of the shocks are lovely and a little of that motorcycle finesse on this new model would help a lot.
Kirsty Gwilliam Sorry to say that: Chooch is desperately trying to make money and praises any wheel. If you find him entertaining it's ok, but be careful with his conclusions and make up your own educated opinion.
Looks awesome though!!
