Quick few questions, are you going to be riding mostly road or do you also want the option to venture out on the gravel paths and then some trails? Do you think you going to be riding with friends that do long rides and also do you have nice open areas to ride. Just a few question to see. As you say there are so many options and they are all a good bit of money.

Bigger size wheels ride more comfortable
16-18inch is really a nice size for the comfort. Yes the bigger you get more comfort but it become heavy.

The smaller wheels like the mten3/4 is just too small for longer rides. Yes you can do it but its more a fun wheel.

The V8F or V10F can be a good start and they are all great wheels. So much lighter and fun. But its a difficult call. I am sure you will pick it up without problems or with a bit of practice and then you going to be off exploring.

I learnt on the V10f a great wheel to start on, reasonable range, descent speed and not to heavy. Great wheel to learn on for me. You are correct the choice is massive and making the correct one is difficult. Good Luck

Andre Mostert ! Thank you for getting back to me! I will be mainly (hopefully!) be riding gravel trails, and a lot of off road, I’m from the north west of England so only 10 mins from large open spaces with plenty of trails and single track paths to explore, so mainly going to be for leisure purposes, but also to commute a few miles each way on old tramways to work.
I’m sure it will all fall into place once I finally make a decision!

Andy Hooper FYI - I have invested heavily in V5F, V8F and V10F as these really are the most reliable on the market at the moment! We have a big shipment coming in at some point.....when is as always, the magic question ;)

My point here is not to sell you one (that would be nice) BUT to point the fact that despite being out for a long time, that is also a winning factor, as to why they have been out for so long. We are now actively shying away from the massively expensive wheels....we do have the InMotion V13 on the same shipment (because its inmotion and should be solid) but its a £4000 wheel! Very few people are in a position to commit to that.

Andy Hooper Just some pointers if you going to be riding most gravel the S18 would be a great wheel. Its not too heavy and its got a good year behind it with updates and changes. You also get the option of different batteries if dealers here in the UK offer it. Its easy to maintain and the suspension works well.

It also comes in at a good price for what you get.

I have used mine for mostly trail riding.

The new V3 comes with the MOLICEL battery that is supposed to be much better with offering longer range performance.

Keep the questions coming as the more we know the more we can give you some pointers.

Andre Mostert I have been looking at the ks18 and it really does look like an awesome wheel, and does seem like it would fit my needs. Would this be alright as a beginner wheel? Or would you recommend some of the lower power wheels to learn on? Thank you all again for your input and recommendations 👍

Andy Hooper I must say there are very little option on the low power wheels that you are going to have a good ride on when riding trails. Like the V8F, its such a nice wheels and super fun to ride on the road but on trails its going to be a bit out of its comfort zone. Dont get me wrong you can ride trails with an MTEN3 but its just not built for it.

Its a mid range wheel, its not too heavy and gives you a good solid ride for the money. The other wheels like the V12 or the KS16X are also solid wheels but they don't have suspension. This is the thing you will have to decide. Is a comfy ride for me important or do I need more range.

For me I don't mind suspension or not. As long as the wheel rides nice and its not too heavy.

Oh and also you need to like the look of it. hehe

Andy Hooper Awesome keep us posted. I held out for so long but I wished I started sooner as as soon as you get it you just get to explore more and more. A bit of a learning curve in the beginning but when it clicks you just get better.

I have the 16X and the S18 both solid contenders, the 16X for its range the S18 for its suspension.
