I had a ride the other day with some friends owning 1st and 2nd batch V12s. Cutout at 2nd batch models could reliably be reproduced upon accelerating harshly on a steep incline or even ambitious takeoff from muddy grass. The good news is that Lazyrolling Wear holds up very well ... apart from sweating like hell in the Jacket π. Behaviour became somehow better without pads. 1st batch wheel performed fine ... like a sporty GW Tesla. Take care.
Old Trapper Just a quick question for my own curiosity, when the cutout happens is the wheel dead and a new board is needed or is this something that can be reset?
Andre Mostert We had not been eager to fry the board and watched the temperature carefully. It always was possible to restart the wheel after some secs. Obviously the motivation for Inmotion's suggestion to test the wheel ... repeat ten times to at least get the mosfets warmer. Maybe just a dead soldering bridge ... I dunnow because my friends did not want to open the wheel because of possible guarantee issues.
Old Trapper would be interested in their serial numbers to confirm the batch numbers, as Batch 1 and 3 inmotion have no reported issues (in regard to the mosfet detaching), mine and Jons are batch 1 (and I have been pushing it incredibly hard), 600km and all good so far.
Speedy Feet I am going to ask them on next occasion. The only fact I know for sure from their words is one wheel from batch 1 and the less reliable from batch 2.
One more finding from our testing i did not mention: If you are leaning in while cornering the wheel already shuts off at a very low angle ... maybe 20Β° down from vertical. So be careful when riding berms on bike trails or likewise. Reaching out to Inmotion they state that this is no bug but a feature to "protect" the rider.
Hmmm, I definitely prefer the Gotway style where I can at least adjust the angle in a given range.
